Terms of Use

The rules of the road, in plain language.

Effective May 2026 · Last updated May 22, 2026

These Terms of Use govern your use of renewalinitiative.com and the services offered by The Renewal Initiative ("we," "us," "TRI"). By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. Who we are.

The Renewal Initiative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia. We exist to restore dignity and hope where they have been diminished or lost — strengthening frontline leaders and the communities they carry through trauma-informed formation, care networks, and long-arc partnerships in places affected by crisis.

2. Use of the site.

You may use this site for personal, non-commercial purposes, including learning about our work, partnering with us, and giving. You agree not to:

  • Use the site in any unlawful manner or for any unlawful purpose.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the site or its systems.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the operation of the site.
  • Scrape, copy, or reproduce site content for commercial use without written permission.
  • Use the site to harass, defame, or harm any individual or organization.

3. Donations & receipts.

Donations to The Renewal Initiative are tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law. We issue tax receipts for all eligible gifts in accordance with IRS requirements.

Donations are generally non-refundable. If you believe a gift was made in error or have a question about a donation, please contact us at info@renewalinitiative.com and we will work with you in good faith to resolve it.

Designated gifts (e.g., to Lego Club or Frontline Leader Intensives) are honored as restricted funds for that program area.

4. Intellectual property.

Site content — including text, photography, illustrations, the TRI name, the Renewal Initiative wheat mark, and all related identifiers — is the property of The Renewal Initiative (or used with permission) and is protected by U.S. and international copyright and trademark law.

You may share and quote our work for non-commercial educational, journalistic, or advocacy purposes with appropriate attribution. For commercial reuse, licensing, or republication, please contact info@renewalinitiative.com.

5. Stories about people we serve.

Many of the people in our work — frontline leaders, partners, children, families — live in contexts where dignity, safety, and discretion matter as much as the story itself. When we publish stories that involve them, we sometimes change names, withhold locations, or alter identifying details to protect them. We do this with care and only where appropriate.

6. Disclaimers.

The site and its content are provided "as is" for informational purposes. We make reasonable efforts to keep information accurate and current, but we make no warranties about completeness, accuracy, or fitness for any particular purpose.

Nothing on this site constitutes legal, financial, medical, or professional advice. For those, consult a qualified professional.

The site may include links to third-party websites. We are not responsible for the content or practices of any third-party sites.

7. Limitation of liability.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, The Renewal Initiative and its officers, directors, employees, and volunteers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of the site.

8. Privacy.

Your use of the site is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your information.

9. Governing law.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Virginia.

10. Changes to these terms.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
