Boilerplate

The Renewal Initiative is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit working alongside Ukrainian leaders to restore communities affected by sustained crisis. TRI grew out of Andrew Moroz's work in Ukraine that began in March 2022, and was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in 2023. The organization strengthens frontline carriers — chaplains, pastors, medical workers, and community organizers — and the people they serve. Built for the long arc of recovery, TRI's primary programs include frontline leader formation, care networks, and the Dnipro Lego Club for children impacted by trauma.

The Renewal Initiative is the humanitarian arm of the Renewal Ecosystem, paired with Renewal Leadership — a formation practice that translates field-tested insights into resources for church leaders and mission-driven executives. Learn more at renewalinitiative.com.

Founder Bio

Andrew Moroz

Founder, The Renewal Initiative · Founder, Renewal Leadership

Andrew Moroz first arrived in Ukraine in March 2022 during the opening weeks of the full-scale war. The work that became The Renewal Initiative began then; TRI was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in 2023. He has continued returning to lead frontline work, formation intensives, and care networks for Ukrainian leaders carrying communities through prolonged crisis.

Alongside the field work in Ukraine, Andrew pursued doctoral studies in intercultural studies at Columbia International University. His research traced faithful leadership through the life of Richard Stearns, former president of World Vision US — a leader who carried a global organization through identity tension, public scrutiny, and slow institutional renewal without losing his own footing.

He is also the founder of Renewal Leadership, the formation practice that pairs with TRI inside the Renewal Ecosystem. He writes regularly on faithful leadership, formation, and the long arc of recovery.

"The cameras leave, and the war stays. The work that changes a place is the work that stays. We stay."
