Where every dollar actually goes.
Transparency is not an extra. It is how trust is earned. Annual reports, IRS filings, and a clear picture of how partner giving funds the long arc of recovery.
Stewardship is the work.
The Renewal Initiative operates as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Every gift is tax-deductible to the fullest extent permitted by law.
We are committed to integrity, transparency, and timely communication — keeping overhead lean, directing the maximum possible share of giving into program work, and publishing our financials in plain language so partners can see exactly what their giving supports.
If a question is not answered on this page, we welcome the conversation directly.
We maximize every gift.
We aim to stretch every dollar for the greatest possible impact. That means low overhead, trusted local partnerships, and strategic investment in people.
We build relationships, not pipelines.
Our work is grounded in personal relationships. We prioritize long-term change, not just quick fixes.
We report back.
We provide annual reports, financial documentation, and clear updates on how your gifts are being used.
Two years of allocation, actually verified.
Year-over-year actuals from our books, not typical ranges. Transparency means showing the year that ran lean, not just the year that ran well.
2024 was our first full year and a strong build. 2025 was leaner: giving was down nationally for Ukraine work, and we used reserves and contracted support to keep teams in the field. Both years are presented here in full.

Designated Gifts
Designated giving (e.g. Lego Club, Frontline Leader Intensives) is restricted and applied in full to that program area, in every year.
2025 ran lean. Giving was down, and we drew on 2024 reserves to keep teams in the field. 2025 also required contracted operational support that lifted administration & operations above its typical level — about 30% of that work directly served the teams and partners delivering the mission. We enter 2026 focused on recurring donors. See the 2025 Impact Report for the full breakdown.
Unrestricted giving, used where it's needed most.
Unless otherwise designated, all contributions are considered unrestricted and applied where the need is greatest. If funds exceed a specific project's needs — or if a project cannot proceed — we redirect support to the closest effort that continues serving the same people.
